Reduce prominence of free range plastic.

Reduce prominence of free range plastic.
The Issue
Plastic in Water is one of the major source of pollution. Humans can be ingesting five grams of plastic every week because of polluted water. Plastics get into human body also due to inhalation of microplastics. The largest source of plastic ingestion is drinking water with plastic in it (groundwater, surface water, tap water, bottled water). It is estimated that 1.1 to 8.8 million metric tons (MT) of plastic waste enters the ocean from costal communities each year. A new study suggests plastic bottles release small amounts of chemicals over long periods of time. Research found that the concentration of certain chemicals, such as antimony, increases the longer the water sits in the plastic bottle. In order to tackle this crisis, we need urgent action at government, business and consumer levels. The Municipal corporation of Delhi needs to put a hefty fine on the companies which release plastic waste into water bodies. Secondly, each drain opening must be fitted with mesh nets so that plastic waste can be segregated before flowing into major water bodies. This would help reduce free plastic prominence to a great extent.
This is a worldwide problem and can be solved only by addressing the root cause.
