During the June 11, 2024 Council Meeting of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Council voted to pass a motion that, effective immediately on June 12, 2024, the position of Councillor become full time as opposed to the current structure as part time. This will also include a pay raise for these officials which is paid by tax payers. While it was positioned as "serving the community," this decision was made without proper consultation with the community or transparency in their process.

We demand that Alberta Municipal Affairs conduct a thorough provincial investigation into this matter to ensure accountability and integrity within our local government. Our elected officials should prioritize the needs of their constituents over personal gain.
