Bring Muji to the South Eastern United States
MUJI is a Japanese lifestyle brand that specializes in minimalist stationery, home goods, clothing, cleaning supplies, and everything in between. In the United States, MUJI USA has eight (8) stores in New York, New York; one (1) in Boston, Massachusetts; and one (1) in Portland, Oregon. MUJI USA had to close all of its stores in California due to the pandemic after filing for Chapter 11. However, MUJI USA lacks stores in locations that could widely expand their customer base for families of any size, companies looking to modernize their offices, and even for college students like me who rely on affordable living and supplies.
While MUJI does have brick and mortar locations, most potential USA customers are left to shop online from the lack of stores, but shopping online is a sad experience compared to shopping in store. There are not nearly the same amount of items on the website, and customers are severely missing out on purchasing products from MUJI USA because only a small amount of their stock is online. Customers are being driven away from purchasing because the selection is so small compared to the online shopping in Europe, Asia, Australia, or North America, specifically Canada. A change in this could really help MUJI USA recover from the drastic economic suffering that they have encountered.
MUJI USA could really benefit from opening a store in the southeast United States, in states like South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. Some cities that they could set up in are:
- Charleston, SC
- Greenville, SC
- Charlotte, NC
- Raleigh, NC
- Savannah, GA
- Atlanta, GA
There is wonderful, untapped potential and opportunity that could be taken if MUJI USA expands to these areas. With Charlotte and Atlanta being incredibly dense international travel hubs, MUJI USA could thrive extremely well in those areas.
It is incredibly important to me and so many others that this company succeeds. As a college student on a budget, I really value companies that make high quality products that won’t break my bank account. I rely on MUJI USA for room and desk organization, school materials, and various other supplies that I need in order to sustain my way of life while living in an off-campus apartment where I must be self sufficient. Customers deserve to have ample opportunities to support this wonderful global business. Not only would it help customers enjoy such a high quality and wildly affordable brand, but it can help MUJI and, more specifically, MUJI USA recover from the horrible economic impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has inflicted upon them. Please join me and so many others in petitioning for more MUJI USA locations to open in the southeast United States!
