On Monday, November 18, 2019, a town hall meeting was held in Riverdale regarding the proposed express bus service cuts.  In attendance were several of our local politicians.  The turn out was very high with over 400 residents in attendance.

The proposed cuts directly impact residents of the 81st Assembly District and include the following bus lines (BXM1, BXM2, BXM3, BXM4, BXM11 and BXM 18).  The cuts will include abbreviated service (meaning no evening southbound service or morning northbound service and decrease service frequency at other times).

For those of us who live in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, we rely on these express bus services.  If we chose to use the subway, we would still need to take a local city bus to 230th and Broadway to hop on the 1 which is very often inaccessible or just not running and the Metro North is more costly.  The Express Buses are the primary source of transportation in Riverdale for most and to decrease the service would also cause property values to go way down as residents would be limited in their transportation needs.

I urge everyone to write letters and start petitions and let your voice be heard.
