Generations have come and gone and more will in the future. Our sisters have built a legacy like no other. Whether we passed our Caribbean exams to go to Mt. Alvernia High School or we were transferred, our school song was held in high regard. We sang it proudly, with dignity and honor. It is what unites us as past and present students. Our grandmothers, mothers, aunts and sisters sang it and for some our daughters will too. It is what sets us apart from our sister schools. “Oh Alvernia, Alvernia we sing to you! We will be loyal to the glorious brown and blue.” It was something about the intro, as we waited on the organist to lead us into singing our hearts out. Whether or not we were having a bad day once, it was time to sing our song we did so with pride! Change is good but change to our history is as if we do not appreciate it at all. Let us preserve our legacy. This is our pact! One united front brought together by a song. It is how we do what we do and it is why we do what we do. “Ad Astra Per Aspera”
