Bring Ms. Quinlan back!!!
Bring Ms. Quinlan back!!!
The issue
*Ms Quinlan has expressed her sadness at her leaving behind the connections she has made with the students in her classes, and as a Year 9 class, we have decided to write this petition to show our appreciation for her.*
Ms Quinlan has been the best English teacher that our Year 9 class has ever encountered. She is compassionate, straight-forward, fair and excellent at teaching and has left a lasting impression on all of her students. Shakespeare was easy to understand this term, all thanks to Ms Quinlan.
However, Ms Quinlan applied for a permanent job at Mt Alvernia College last week and was not offered the job. We believe that this is unfair, and has caused outrage within not only our Year 9 class, but another Year 10 class as well. We want Ms Quinlan to be an English teacher here at our school! And don't just take it from me, you can hear it from the students of Ms Quinlan:
"Ms Quinlan is the bomb.com and all of us love her - not just as a teacher but a role model and mentor!" ~L. J.
"Ms Quinlan was extremely kind and patient when helping to understand the works of Shakespeare, as well as helping to calm the nerves of the exam we did. She is so good at her job." J. C.
"After facing so many challenges with English teachers in the past who held permanent positions granted by the school, it was an amazing experience to be guided by such an incredible teacher who holds so much respect for us and compassion for her job." L. B.
"Ms Quinlan has taught me, as well as many other students, important lessons both relevant inside and outside the classroom. She has provided a welcoming environment in the short time she has spent teaching our class and has made us feel comfortable in the classroom regardless of our grades." I. A.
"Throughout the little time Ms Quinlan has spent teaching our class, she has left a long-lasting impression on not only myself but the whole class. In the past, I have struggled to understand teachers explanations of multiple tasks. However, Ms Quinlan explained our assignment task in multiple different ways allowing everyone in the class to gauge an understanding of what the assessment requires. She has also created an environment within the classroom that has resulted in multiple students feeling more comfortable, ultimately achieving a more productive classroom setting." E. M.
" English has always been a tough subject for me to understand. When Ms Quinlan came to teach our class in the Shakespeare unit I immediately noticed a difference in my understanding. Her teaching methods and kind words help me develop a deeper understanding of the topics I was learning. She has left long-lasting impacts on me and many many others in our class. Without her, I would not have an understanding of basic English conventions that I have learnt through her teaching. " M. S.
Our goal is to get Mt Alvernia College to recognize the significant impact that Ms Quinlan has had on our learning this term, and to consider offering her the permanent position that she clearly deserves.
*Ms Quinlan did not participate in the making of this petition. It is an entirely student-led initiative. She has expressed that this petition will likely not change the decision of the employers of our school, but as a class, we decided that we want to try one last-minute thing to show our gratefulness to her teaching in our class.*
