Make public facilities more accessible to the visually impaired

Make public facilities more accessible to the visually impaired
The Issue
My friend Mahesh is a qualified physiotherapist and an accomplished Sitar player. He’s also blind. And because of this, he has to depend on other people for simple tasks like boarding the local train or operating the washing machine.
This needn’t be so difficult for him or the other 1.2 crore visually impaired living in India.
If Thaawar Gehlot, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment takes the first step and makes public facilities more accessible, then blind people like Mahesh will be able to become more self-reliant.
Sign this petition asking Thaawar Gehlot to install braille signage, audio guidance systems, and other accessible technology across public facilities.
Boarding a bus or train without assistance and independently withdrawing money from the ATM are significant challenges for most blind people. It’s not because they lack the ability to do any of these things. It’s our primary infrastructure that fails to take care of their unique needs. Effective public facilities is the first step on the road to equality of opportunity in all spheres for people with visual impairment.
Demand NOW that the Ministry for Social Justice and Empowerment makes public facilities accessible by signing this petition.
If thousands of us sign this petition, we can collectively ensure that Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Thaawar Chand Gehlot takes these crucial steps that will give visually impaired Indians the freedom to access public facilities without depending on others.
Sign this petition and make India more accessible.
