Boycott Mr. Rooter's Unethical Business Practices!

The Issue

Since Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Pittsburgh (Rooter Champion) thinks false advertising, misrepresentation, breaching contracts, destroying property, and ignoring customers is funny (according to Carol Beall, Vice President of Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh)....

The only way we will have a chance to compel the business to change its deceptive and predatory business practices and take responsibility for their mistakes that have occurred during dates of service at the homes of their victims, in JUST the Pittsburgh area and surrounding counties alone, is to successfully warn and save a minimum of 10% of the area's population from making a very serious mistake by calling them to fix problems that they are not qualified to fix or wiling to fix in the form of a boycott (loosing money appears to be the only remorse that they would have - if their bottom line was affected) - a boycott would communicate to them how unacceptable people think their business practices are and a buycott would be a reasonable action if they took responsibility for their behavior and stopped their deceptive and predatory business practices.

The population in the Pittsburgh area is approximately 2,355,968 which would be a reach of somewhere around 235,596 people. It can start by simply talking to friends, family, and people you meet (saving people from the same fate as us and others is my ultimate goal).

In fact, I was in a group setting and someone wanted to know why I thought Mr. Rooter was one of the worst companies out there - All I had to do was show them evidence of how they left our home, evidence of false advertising, and that they would take action to sue me (who was used, and then victimized with my belongings destroyed due to Mr. Rooter of Pittsburgh's breach of contract), the daughter of their customer, and potentially sue their customer (double victimization) for constructing negative, yet truthful, online reviews...

One person laughed because they thought they were idiots and another had a jaw-dropping reaction; however, both of them said that they wouldn't want to call a company that behaved like that....These reactions from people are on just facts alone....Not even my opinions or conclusions based on facts....Facts that I have evidence of.

Submitting complaints to the Attorney General of PA (or the AG in your area) may be more productive in the end than submitting them to the BBB (even if you have sent complaints to the BBB, it would be helpful to send those to the Attorney General of PA so that they can review their pattern of behavior as they accept and compile complaints - even if they are resolved). The Attorney General has the authority to take action - the BBB does not. The FTC is another good organization to submit your experience to as well.  I would submit a customer review on the BBB's website, though, if you have not already submitted a complaint, so that the public can read about your experience and make an informed decision.

Encouraging a true consumer boycott is the only way to save others from making the grave mistake of calling Mr. Rooter. Information about consumer boycotts can be found at:Ethical Consumer.

Would you want to do business with a company who publicly advertises that they win awards that they didn't win (I have evidence of this)?

Would you want to do business with a company who takes leads from Mr. Rooter LLC's corporate-based Mr. Rooter websites and calls those people back as Rooter Champion (I have evidence of this)?

Would you want to do business with a company who refuses to take responsibility for issues (false advertising, misrepresentation, breach of contract, shoddy workmanship, destruction of property, etc.) that you have provided them concrete evidence of (I have evidence of this)?

Would you want to do business with a company who tries to sue its victims (twice and a third lawsuit on its way according to them) for telling the truth (I have evidence of this)?

Would you want to do business with a company that pressures their customers into writing reviews before work is even completed or deletes negative reviews to hide them from consumers who do research (I have evidence of this)?

Would you want to do business with a company who thinks it is funny to watch their "valued customers" come together sharing Mr. Rooter horror stories (I have evidence of this)?

Would you want to do business with a company who does not have the ability to follow the path of a sewer line (I have evidence of this)?

Sign the petition and let them know that you will not be using them for service until they stop engaging in unethical business practices!

Sign the petition and let them know if you were a customer who had a negative experience - resolved or unresolved - who would never call them again.

Rachel ProvincePetition StarterI had my personal property destroyed by Mr. Rooter as a result of their breach of contract with my Mother. My Mother suffered both personal property damage and damage to her home as a result of breach of contract and shoddy workmanship respectively. The link goes to my first blog post, which explains, in detail, the "service" that was performed at our home, and then continues to describe other less than ethical behaviors. In fact, they have behaved in such a heinous manner that I truly believe that Mr. Rooter is harmful to society - not only locally, but throughout the Mr. Rooter brand and throughout the “sister” brands under The Dwyer Group.
