For some inexplicable reason, on May 13, 2022, President Biden nominated Andrew G. Biggs, a longtime enemy of Social Security, to fill a position on the Social Security Advisory Board. If the President felt bound to fill the position with another Republican, he could have appointed a moderate or, better still, could have left the position vacant. Instead he nominated Biggs, a fellow at the right-wing American Enterprise Institute, who has devoted decades of his life working to privatize the Social Security Administration or to cut back SS benefits and coverage. .

Currently, some 66 million Americans are beneficiaries of Social Security, yet many Republican politicians are determined to destroy the program that has made retirement relatively comfortable for untold millions of people and their beneficiaries for over 8 decades.
