Silage Pile Relocation - (Public Nuisance)

The Issue

The relocation of Aj, David & Kristi Fazio's (owners of Fazio AG LLC, JD Ranch on Sauvie Island, OR) massive corn silage and tire stockpiling next to Multnomah Farms (24514 NW Sauvie Island Rd. Portland, OR 97231) and Rocky Pointe Marina (23586 NW St Helens Rd, Portland, OR 97231) would benefit all neighbors of such an operation. Benefits of this relocation would be, but are not limited to, severe health and environmental concerns, noise pollution, toxic and unpleasant fumes, damage to property, the removal of a dangerous and hazardous operation away from other businesses, homes and a public roadway.

This public nuisance was not present when Multnomah Farms initially purchased their 23.71 acre property next door in August 2016 nor was it there when the owners and over 100+ inhabitants of 56 floating river homes which make up Rocky Pointe Marina chose to call home. By locating the silage pile and tire stockpiling where the Fazio's did, on their approx. 2,000 acre property, they knowingly compromised the livability and value of their surrounding neighborhood. Multnomah Farms communicated their concerns multiple times regarding the newly placed silage location, which is only a few inches away from Multnomah Farms property line. And, the Fazio's were aware that Multnomah Farms intended on operating their business and livelihood through the new building that was constructed at the entrance of their property, directly adjacent to the newly placed public nuisance. It was Multnomah Farm's intention for the grounds to be a destination location for the public to experience the natural beauty of Sauvie Island, learn about organic farming practices, purchase organic farm goods from their farm-stand and get to enjoy a farm-to-table dinner experience, which has now been severely compromised.

Additionally, since Rocky Pointe Marina has been located in the same position since 1920 (for over 100 years), it is clear that the Fazio's were aware that residents and other neighbors were living close by, who would be affected by this choice. And, despite this knowledge, decided on locating (and expanding) this massive silage pile at a location which would be of great concern to their fellow community members.

We are seeking the voices of those who cherish the unique landscape, beauty and peace that Sauvie Island offers to help us petition to relocate this massive public nuisance elsewhere on the Fazio's approx. 2,000 acre property where it will no longer be problematic to the larger community.
