Excessive cars travelling and illegally parking to get to West Wittering Beach is causing a dangerous situation for local residents and visitors. The beach is trying to ensure lower numbers due to the pandemic but individuals are still travelling and abandoning cars in the village and surrounding areas and walking down. Cars are being abandoned on yellow lines, verges, drives, blocking paths etc. Some residents with babies in prams have been forced to walk in the road, wheelchair bound individuals too have been forced onto the roads as paths blocked and some elderly residents have had difficulty getting around. There have been near crashes. Residents feel unsafe. Carers have reported difficulties getting to patients houses. There needs to be increased ‘no parking‘ areas or resident only, verges need to be made impossible for cars to park, towing, more traffic wardens, some form of park and ride, traffic management are suggestions to consider for safety. There is also excessive rubbish, human excrement in fields and dunes. This will all have a negative environmental impact on the area. It is  potentially lethal for pedestrians trying to navigate past abandoned cars, both villagers and visitors. Whilst this mainly effects West Wittering it has an impact on East Wittering & Bracklesham and approaching West Wittering. Visitors are very welcome to the area if parking safely and correctly but this is currently not happening.
