Protect birds by making hedge & tree cutting illegal during Nesting Time

The Issue

Our wildlife has been suffering & declining for decades. The many things that impact on British wildlife include road & property development, building on previously undeveloped land, climate change, pesticides, changes in farming, grubbing up hedges, concrete drives replacing front gardens, a massive reductions in hedgerows & agriculture, a decrease in hedgerow care & management etc.

Our gardens have become the remaining safe wildlife havens, as have cemeteries & field margins.

It's already illegal to cut a tree or hedge if you know there's a nest in there. But it needs to be taken one step further to really protect our vulnerable birds - by making it illegal to do any cutting during the nesting period.

Protecting nesting birds has been enshrined in the recommendation that trees & hedges are best not cut between March & September. However, to truly protect birds, their nests & their young we need it to be unlawful to cut trees and hedges from the beginning if March to the end of October. Let's give our birds the chance to survive please sign my petition now!
