Last Thursday, Jorge Villalobos, the Add-ons Developer Relations Lead for Mozilla, posted an update on the Add-Ons blog regarding Mozilla's roadmap for Firefox extensions in 2017 and beyond - long story short, Mozilla is doubling down on its plan to remove support for the Add-Ons that distinguish Firefox from the competition and that so many of us have come to rely on to get our work done.
This is troubling news. However, the post has already received over 40 responses from Firefox users, many of them protesting this move by Mozilla. Adding our thoughts to this conversation is just one more way that we can make our voices heard.
I'm including the link to the blog post below. Please - if you can spare 60 seconds, write a quick post sharing your thoughts with the Firefox devs: https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2017/02/16/the-road-to-firefox-57-compatibility-milestones/.
Together, I believe we can make a difference and cause Mozilla to reconsider this course of action. At the very least, it's better than sitting by and watching something we care about die.
For a better Firefox and a freer web!
