Do not allow babies to be allowed inside movie theaters for health reasons. Age 0-1

The Issue

Babies that are between the age 0-1 should not be allowed inside a movie theater for health reasons. Babies have little ears and are very sensitive and movie theaters are very loud. A baby's tympanum, ear drum, is still developing at this young age and loud music or noises can damage the baby's tympanum permanently. The Parent(s) who have babies, age 0-1, should be looking out for the safety of their child. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that repeated exposure to loud noises has left 5.2 million American children with some degree of hearing loss.

Babies are more prone to catching colds and viruses easier than adults. In fact, within the first year of life, most babies have up to seven colds. Younger babies have immature immune systems, and have had limited time to acquire immunity to common viruses (Mayo Clinic). Many people go to a movie theater when they are sick and the seats in a movie theater are close together like a pack of sardines, making it very easy for a baby to catch any type of virus that a person may have. The parent(s) is putting their baby at high risk to catching an infection and damaging their baby's immune system.

Once the baby is older than 1 year of age, then the parent(s) should be allowed to go to the movies with their children due to the fact that the child's immune system will be closer to being fully developed and less likely to catching a virus or the common cold than a baby, age 0-1, would be.

This petition is to prevent babies in having future hearing and health problems later on in life by parent(s) not being able to take their babies, ages 0-1, to a movie theater where there are loud noises that can impair the baby's hearing for life. In movie theaters, babies are also prone to catching a virus or a cold due to the volume of people that may be sick in a movie theater at the time. If you care for your hearing and health, then sign this petition so babies of today can breath and hear tomorrow.

Thank You.
