As a member of the school community, those signing this petition believe the current infrastructure at Wootton High School presents ongoing challenges that impact the daily environment. While the school has a proud history, the existing facilities - which have recently faced issues like HVAC inconsistencies, power outages, and gas leaks - suggest that a new direction is necessary to ensure a modern, healthy space for students and staff. The current location and infrastructure of Wootton High School are no longer sustainable to ensure a safe and healthy environment for learning and teaching. This is not just an inconvenience, but an issue that affects the well-being of our school community.

These conditions include poor air quality, inadequate ventilation, and HVAC issues that make it difficult to teach and learn. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), poor air quality in schools can exacerbate health issues like asthma and allergies, decrease productivity, cause headaches, and hinder the learning experiences of students. Relocating our school to Wootton at Crown High School would provide:

• Modern Ventilation: Reliable HVAC systems to improve air quality.
• Enhanced Safety: Updated electrical and gas infrastructure.
• Community Input: An opportunity for students and families to help shape the design, colors, and spirit of our new home.

The relocation will also include merging with  students from surrounding areas and we look forward to seeing new faces and getting to know them, as well. All are welcome! 

Wootton is not closing. It is moving forward together to a better future. The safety and health of our school community should be our priority. The decision to make our school Wootton High School at Crown will require cooperation and support from both the school district and local authorities. We call upon them to take immediate action and prioritize this relocation for the betterment of all involved.
