Let Every Fremont High Graduate Celebrate With Their Whole Family — Move Graduation to the Football Field or Expand Guest Limits

Fremont High School’s graduation at Midland University limits students to only a few guests, forcing families to choose who gets to attend. We are asking Fremont Public Schools to move graduation back to the football field or expand guest seating so every student can be celebrated by all their loved ones

Graduation is supposed to be one of the proudest moments in a student’s life — a moment shared with the people who helped them get there. But for many Fremont High School families, that moment is being taken away.

For the past several years, Fremont High School has held graduation at Midland University’s Wikert Event Center, a venue with a total capacity of 1,800–2,000 seats. After subtracting space for graduates, staff, ADA seating, and staging, families are left with only about 1,200–1,400 seats. With a graduating class of 300–350 students, this forces a limit of 4–5 guests per student.

For many families, that is simply not enough.

These limits create painful, unfair situations:

- No student should have to walk across the stage without their Papa there to cheer — especially when he has shown up for every game, every concert, every milestone.

- No family should have to choose which siblings get to attend and which ones must stay home.

- No student should have to tell their great‑grandparents, who may not be here for the next milestone, that they cannot attend because there aren’t enough seats.

- No parent should have to decide which loved ones “matter most” on a day meant to honor everyone who helped raise that graduate.

These moments cannot be redone. These memories last a lifetime.

Before the move to Midland, Fremont High School held graduation at the Fremont High School football field, which can accommodate 3,500–4,000+ people with bleachers and field seating.

This venue allows:

- Unlimited or expanded seating

- Full family attendance

- A true community celebration

- No painful guest‑limit decisions

We respectfully request that Fremont Public Schools take one of the following actions:

1. Move graduation back to the Fremont High School football field, OR  

2. Increase the number of guests allowed per student at Midland University, OR  

3. Add additional seating accommodations to ensure no student is denied the presence of their loved ones.

 

We ask the district to consider not just the logistics, but the human impact. Every student deserves to look into the crowd and see every face that helped them reach this milestone.
