Move the Barbosa family from Bedford Street

Move the Barbosa family from Bedford Street
The Issue
Living above the Barbosa family has been an absolute nightmare, both emotionally draining and stressful beyond measure. As a concerned resident of this community, I feel deeply unsettled by the presence of Jose Barbosa who is a level 2 sex offender living among us. It is terrifying knowing that a registered sex offender is residing so close to home, especially considering this is a family-oriented and child-friendly neighborhood.
Additionally, Jose's continued participation in active drug use is alarming. While rehabilitation has been offered countless times, it has fallen upon deaf ears. It is unfair to have someone continue to put our community in danger as active drug use can lead to crimes such as theft, among other things. The family preservation program is supposed to be for recovering addicts and their families. If someone is not recovering, they should not be allowed to continue to put others recovery in danger. It is critical that those using drugs are in environments fostering their improvement, rather than settings where their potential lapse could endanger others.
Furthermore, the family occupies a three-bedroom apartment while their housing requirements only necessitate two, depriving others in need of space and violating housing agreements. This misuse not only reflects their disregard for communal fairness but also highlights inefficiency within housing allocations.
Residents deserve to live in peace and without fear. Ensuring the right and appropriate individuals live within suitable residences protects the community's integrity and safety.
By signing this petition, you are not only supporting the eviction of a family that causes discomfort to their neighbors but are also advocating for the safety and peace of our community. I urge everyone affected or concerned to voice their support and bring this issue to light. Let's take action for a safer and more harmonious neighborhood.
