Our neighborhood and skies (and peace and tranquility) ARE BEING 'CONFISCATED' and sold to become aviation playground, for dangerous activities over our homes, at our risk.
Businesses like Sky Combat Ace with history of FATAL CRASHES, ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE, and major safety concerns (BANNED in Oceanside, CA and thrown out of Henderson, NV), get a beautiful, uncontrolled, FREE playground, while residents pay property taxes, bear constant noise and fuel pollution and are subjugated to loud decibels and dangerous maneuvers and have to suffer LOSS OF HOME EQUITY.
It is getting WORSE every day.
What will it be like in a year or two?
North Las Vegas Airport is now located in the center of the town (due to new construction growing all around it). North Las Vegas Airport is one of the examples of the largest impacts FAA's Nextgen is currently having over densely populated residential neighborhoods: ‘Concentrated & Repetitive’ closed pattern work associated with flight schools and abusive recreational pilots like Sky Combat Ace, where they get to exploit their privileges by performing incessant touch and go patterns on top of densely populated residential neighborhoods, 24/7.
Residents are very upset, but are completely disempowered. Reporting individual flights to individual airport operations is ridiculous for a huge, systemic problem. Making a complaint is manually intensive, and opens one up to more harassment, aviation bullying and ABUSE, and produces no results. The Clark country department of aviation has made it CLEAR that residents have NO SAY. That Sky Combat Ace bottom line comes before the residents' health, safety and sanity. Complain too much and your complaints are ignored or worse, you'd be targeted, harassed and retaliated against by Abusive Sky Combat Ace, Vegas Aviation, West Air Flight training, BBL VENTURES or Flyright Aviation. Noise and operations measurement procedures are ludicrously self serving. Noise abatement policies and roundtables are disingenuous facades. And at every turn, we are reminded that FAA is in charge of the skies, making abusive recreational pilots even more EMBOLDENED to harass and decimate residents with noise and fuel pollution since they have seen a systematic lack of enforcement or inaction by the agency.
"Nevada is among one of the US states with some of the highest levels of leaded aviation activity and poisoning. Lead is a neurotoxin and there is an avalanche of scientific studies linking lead to violent crimes, cancer, cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s, dementia, nervous system issues, learning disabilities, breathing issues, asthma, respiratory disease, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease".
General aviation BENEFITS itself while imposing large impacts upon many residents, according to FAA's own statistics, less than 5% of aviation is actually 'essential' (fire, rescue, emergency), 95% of aviation activity dumped on top of NW, Sun City and Summerlin homes is purely recreational.
Despite the backlash from the residents, Sky Combat Ace loud stunt planes are regularly TARGETING Sun City Summerlin, Lone Mountain and NW residents with flybys, dives and frequent and dangerous maneuvers.
Sky Combat Ace has modified their Extra 300s to be obnoxiously loud (like sports cars, 85 dB -95 dB) and they are revving their engines as they are joyriding on top of our communities for marketing and money making. They are punching throttle to hit nearly 85dba, early morning hours, and throughout the day, even on Sundays as 3 to 6 of them fly together.
We can no longer sleep uninterrupted without being bombarded with stunt plane noise or helicopters that wake us up in the morning and prevent us from sleeping at night. We can no longer watch TV in our homes without the grinding of airplane engines in our living rooms. We can no longer walk our dogs down our own neighborhood streets without stunt planes screaming by so closely that we can read the aircraft numbers off the ground.
The fact is that a minority (usually abusive recreational pilots with history of illegal substance abuse, FATAL CRASHES and major safety concerns, BANNED or dismissed in other places like Sky combat Ace) increasingly DOMINATES the majority in a classic inequity. This inequity is wrong. Reforms are long overdue, and require action by Congress and FAA. When will they step up and fix this?

To stop the overreach of a Federal agency that is serving the airline industry and General aviation bottom line at the expense of taxpayers. Please tell the FAA it doesn't own the airspace, taxpayers do, and general aviation is granted the privilege of operating safely and with public consent. The noise and fuel pollution over our homes is just unbearable and our quality of life has severely suffered since Sky Combat Ace and other stunt planes (BANNED because of fatal crashes/safety concerns) have been dumped on top of our homes. This should not be our burden alone to bear.
