Last year, many parents in Dublin, GA, were heartbroken as they could not get inside the venue to watch their children's graduation. Graduation is a milestone that families have been anticipating for over 12 years. Missing such a significant event is something they can't get back, and it leaves a void in the cherished memories meant to celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our young graduates.

Graduations are intended to be a time of joy and togetherness, where families and friends gather to support their loved ones' achievements. However, the current venue's limited capacity has forced some family members to watch this special moment on a screen outside or not at all, which simply cannot compare to the experience of watching their graduate walk across the stage in person.

We propose moving future graduation ceremonies in Dublin, GA, to an outdoor setting which provides more space for attendees. In the event of inclement weather, students should still be able to secure a specified number of tickets for their immediate family—so at least parents and siblings have guaranteed seats indoors. This ensures that even if the weather doesn't cooperate, the immediate family can partake in the ceremonious joy of graduation day.

Graduation is a key milestone, and we owe it to our students to ensure that their family members have the chance to witness this special day in-person. Let's make this necessary change to support our community.
