The small town of Moses Lake, WA has been using racist terms and imagery for the middle school and high school mascots. The two middle schools (Chief Moses Middle School and Frontier Middle School) use the terms “warriors” and “braves” for their slogan, while the Moses Lake High School are the “chiefs”. At football games a “white Indian in a headdress” walks around the stadium and the students wear “war face paint” to show their school spirit. This is incredibly disrespectful. This needs to change, and I want the students attending these schools to acknowledge and respect the stolen land they stand on, and to stop using these mascots.
