Stop The Morgan Marine Development In Brightlingsea

Stop The Morgan Marine Development In Brightlingsea

The Issue

The proposed enlargement of the fixed pontoons out into the fairway of the creek will have a massive impact on navigation of the creek, precluding gig events, dingy sailing and sailing barge movements to St Osyth boatyard. It would also have an irreversible effect on the the regeneration of native oysters that were lost in 70s, and are only now gaining a tentative foothold after much work by local oyster men.

We will lose the tranquillity of the much loved ‘Rope Walk’ footpath and it’s outstandingly beautiful views which stretch for miles out over Brightlingsea Creek.  This natural environment is of high amenity value to the town. The investment the owner is putting on the table comes at a heavy price to the Brightlingsea community.

Please go to the Tendring website to place an objection on the planning application, also please sign our petition to stop this environmental disaster from happening.

Our Essex coastline is valuable for nature conservation.

This is one of Brightlingsea’s natural assets.

Join calls to protect it for the younger generation.

Internationally important estuary for birds.

SSSi & Ramsar mudflat feeding ground for wader birds.

Seabirds nest on Cindery Island (more than 100).

Concrete bowls for nesting birds will be put on the island as mitigation but power boat disturbance in summer breeding season is at odds with this mitigation attempt.

Inappropriate marina development.

Say no to destroying the Creek with a polluting and unsustainable tourist feature.

The right of way is free for residents to enjoy - and they do!
