Goodevening all faculty at Grambling State University . It is with great concern that students of the chemistry department are advocating for more resources here at Grambling State university . Us upper class-man who have been here since 2020 has not been able to do any advance lab because of the lack of resources. We have seen that Grambling does get a great deal of money but is not used for the right reasons. How is that we spend so much money at this school but can not get the basic resources to even comprehend the field we are trying to go in.  Not being able to do on hands experiments or even advance experiments because we do not have the resources that goes pass organic chemistry. Having classes canceled due to the fact that we have out dated machines that does not work. How is that helping us ? HELPING GRAMBLING be the best school they can be . Money that is going towards things that’s not helping students here right now. We want better for the students and our campus . Observing over the courses of five years , there are a lack of professors in the STEAM field as a whole . Speaking for the chemistry department we have seen that professors are getting burnt out for teaching 3 classes and then on top of running a department . Not having enough teachers puts a strain on our education and even pushes us back as a whole. Imagine going out into the real world with a degree but being scared to even use it because we didn’t have the proper tools or resources to even be confident . Imagine going to class and not being able to do labs because we don’t have the lab equipment or basic materials to do these labs . On top of that labs have been sitting untouched since before Covid and has spider webs , mold , rust , busted bottles etc OUT IN THE OPEN. That’s not a great look for us as a campus . The generation after us that’s coming here to Gram do they have to have same issues we had while in school. How can we move forward if we are still stuck in our ways . How can this new generation thrive at Grambling if the same issues are happening from when our parents were in school . We the students of the chemistry department demand answers AND solutions to fix this situation . There is no reason why we haven’t had hands on experience since being at Grambling State University. What’s our saying ? Where everybody is somebody . Well we can’t be the best chemist that we know we can be if this issue isn’t resolved . We the students of the chemistry department encourage everybody to sign our petition for more money to be poured back into our department. Imagine Grambling Being shut down because due to lack of resources , no professors , materials etc. You asked us to be the change so please help us change our school for the better.
