Join two Community Development Projects: the Empress Theatre and Trinity Memorial, NDG
Why this petition matters

We want two community, heritage and development projects, to join forces. The Montreal Borough of CDN-NDG has launched a public consultation on what to do with the Empress Theatre, a derelict community and heritage asset. Recently, the 1000-seater church of Trinity Memorial was also closed and also lies derelict. Both properties are the subject of property development processes in a neighbourhood desperately in need of sustainable community and arts spaces. We want the Borough of CDN-NDG consultation process to hear from CDN-NDG residents of their desire to see a new community operation programme for Trinity Memorial, in which the social and arts functionality once held at the Empress, can continue in a renovated Trinity NDG Centre. We want the Borough to help find a way to divert development funds and political will, to help support this transition. Local residents are enlisting the help of the Trinity Centres Foundation and the NDG Community Council, to see a new and local community stakeholders model lead this project. Various groups of this kind have been mobilizing with political, government, NGO, arts and development leaders around this option and it seems as though there may be a way... now, we need the will! News of this petition and its final signed version, will be presented to the NDG consultation process by Ms. Tori Matoga, Member of Jeunesse Loyola and Mrs. Danica Meredith, TCF Advisor & NDG Resident.
