Stop the Robinson Road widening and realignment project

Stop the Robinson Road widening and realignment project
The Issue
Oak Ridge North Citizen Petition:
In an effort to maintain our quality of life in Oak Ridge North, we are asking for complete transparency in regard to the adopted Comprehensive Plan (The Plan) for Oak Ridge North adopted on June 24, 2013. We do not believe that the wishes of the citizens have been appropriately reflected in the solutions developed in The Plan. In particular, we do NOT want the widening and realignment of Robinson Road. Nor do we want a Town Plaza to be built. We call on the City Council and City Management to listen to the voice of the people and work to maintain our City Motto: “What a Hometown Should Be”.
We are requesting that The Plan be completely removed and reworked from the ground up with citizen involvement in the solutions offered, not just in identifying problems. In particular, we would like to see community homes, businesses, and Oak Ridge Reformed Baptist / Oak Ridge Christian Academy protected by our government; and for the traffic mobility issues to be addressed without significant adjustments to Robinson Road west of the train tracks. Additionally we request that the Plaza District be removed from The Plan and the PD1 zoning be rescinded (as the City went against recommendations of its own zoning commission when it passed the PD1 zone).
Non-Oak Ridge North Citizen Petition:
As a member of the greater local community, but not an Oak Ridge North resident, we are in support of the citizens of Oak Ridge North and their desire to maintain the quality of life in Oak Ridge North. We support their request for complete transparency in regard to the adopted Comprehensive Plan (The Plan) for Oak Ridge North adopted on June 24, 2013. We do not believe that the wishes of the ORN citizens have been appropriately reflected in the solutions developed in The Plan.
