Stop the Verizon cell phone tower at Democracy Blvd and Gainsborough Rd

Stop the Verizon cell phone tower at Democracy Blvd and Gainsborough Rd
The Issue
The East Gate Recreation Association, operator of the East Gate Swim and Tennis Club at the corner of Gainsborough Road and Democracy Boulevard has entered into a tentative lease with Verizon to build and 80 foot tall cell phone tower on that property.
East Gate Recreation Association members are urged to voice their objection directly to the ERGA president, Michael Faerber. The leased location of a cell phone tower so close to a children's recreation area has the potential to drive down membership, and render the pool financially inviable.
The towers location, less than 400 feet from houses in four separate homeowners association, threatens to drive down property values across our community. A realtor.com article stated that nearby cell phone towers could depreciate home value by as much as 20%. Yet the community has had no say in the East Gate Recreation Association's decision to lease the space to Verizon in exchange for a monthly rent payment.
More than 32 cell phone towers already exist within a 4 NM radius of this area. The placement of this tower provides short term financial gain to EGRA, but will significantly impact the community.
We urge the zoning board to deny the request to change the land-use from recreation to duel use. And urge East Gate Recreation Association to withdraw from the lease at whatever cost necessary in the name of being a good neighbor.
Please make your voices heard to object to this potential health hazard and impact to property value.
