• SAFETY: Emergency access will be improved for police officers, and other small emergency vehicles. Those attending to emergencies will have better access to Ocean Medical Center, the nearest hospital.

• TRAFFIC FLOW: The congestion around the bridge will pick up, especially in summer.  With the bridge opening every half hour and taking 15-20 minutes to open, local residents and visitors have precious few minutes to cross.

• BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES: Local businesses which depend on customers, delivery, and regular shipments will be able to operate more efficiently.

• AIR QUALITY: Residents will enjoy cleaner air due to less cars idling.

• SOUND QUALITY: Sound pollution will improve with less bridge alarms, boat horns, and car stereos.

• LESS LITTER: Idling drivers and passengers will have less opportunity to leave their waste behind.

• IMPROVED BEACH ACCESS: Commercial vehicles, bikers, children, families with baby carriages, joggers, walkers, and others will enjoy using the bridge more freely. 

• LONGEVITY: Due to less use, the bridge will require less costly and lengthy repairs.
