We can no longer ignore the negligence that Wedgewood Apartments, Sheila Rhodes, Highmark Residential CEO Steve Lamberti, and $115 Billion parent company Starwood Capital Group has, and continues to inflict on their tenants. Your apartment, behind your hot water heater may have hazardous mold that can make you and your entire family very sick, possibly even killing you from all the faulty HVAC units. How do we know this? We paid for a professional mold remediation company to perform an independent lab certified test in our apartment. We have filed countless state, city, county, and federal complaints against Wedgewood Apartments. There is however strength in numbers. We implore you to Google search: “Florida tenants rights handbook”, or visit the following government website: www.fdacs.gov/Consumer-Resources/Landlord-Tenant-Law-in-Florida. Florida law allows a tenant the right to withhold rent for noncompliance. Don’t think you can afford an attorney? Think again, living in a restricted income apartment complex you will most likely pay nothing, or very little through “Community Legal Services” www.clsmf.org. How do we know? We have done it. Did you know about all the murders and unsafe events that Highmark Residential has perpetuated by not taking their tenants seriously? Just Google “highmark residential murder”. There are too many murders to count, 2 of them happened right here in Wedgewood Apartments alone since under Highmark Residential’s very young ownership. Highmark Residential and Starwood Capital must be stopped.
