Mohammed Ramzan, CEO of Cheadle and Marple College - Pay Your Teachers The Agreed Pay Rise
The Issue
We are teachers at Cheadle and Marple Sixth Form College in Stockport and we have been denied our nationally agreed payrises for the last two years. Taking inflation into account, this amounts to a 9.8% loss of earnings.
Our colleagues in colleges across the country have been paid the statutory rise of 2.7% in 2019/2020 and 3.5% in 2020/2021. We are the only college that has been left out.
Over the last four years, the college have spent £88k on consultants, £432k on restructuring costs, the salaries of eight managers on over £50k whilst recruitment was falling and a golden goodbye of £30k for a senior Manager in 2018. CMSFC has also saved £230k in the salaries of twelve teachers who have left [2]
The money is there. We are only asking for parity with our counterparts across the sector. As a result, despite negotiating for years, we have been left with no choice but to strike for what we deserve.
Please join is in telling our boss: pay us what you owe us!
