Testing protocols for land VTL between Malaysia and Singapore is done with Rapid test kits on both sides. It is cheaper and the results can be obtained in 30 minutes. For Air VTL, especially from Singapore to Malaysia a PCR pre departure test is required. The average cost is SGD 130 and takes 24 hours before the result is known. Upon arrival into Malaysia, an on arrival PCR test is required at Rm 250 for a 3 hours or Rm 370 for 1.5 hour wait at the airport. For foreigners it is Rm 100 more.

The cost for the Air VTL testing regime is substantial and the time taken before and after arrival consumes more time compares to the Land VTL.
