Allow Upper Secondary school boys in Singapore to wear shorts

Currently most school rules state that boys in lower secondary will wear shorts but once they go on to upper secondary they will have to switch to long pants.
Given that the climate in Singapore is very hot and humid, should this rule be reviewed to take into account practical considerations? Besides comfort, shorts are also easier to maintain and keep neat and tidy and do not dirty as easily as long pants, especially during games. It is a hassle for boys needing to change if they want to have some games after school as well. It is also a waste of money having to purchase new pants for upper secondary if the shorts still fit.
Given these considerations, there are certainly real benefits in retaining the wearing of shorts for upper secondary boys and it is the most logical choice since Singapore is in a tropical climate with temperatures frequently going up to 30-32 degrees in the day.
In my son's school there are days when it gets so warm in class that some students have had to roll up their pant legs for ventilation and it is obvious they are not comfortable. I feel that if students are more at ease and comfortable it would also help them focus better in class.
Hence this is a petition worth supporting for the sake of common sense!
