Modify the Tail of the Discord Otter Emoji for Appropriate Representation

The Issue

As an avid user and lover of the Discord platform, I have always found joy in using emojis to express my feelings. One of my favorites is the otter emoji. However, it has come to my attention that its tail design has been subject to inappropriate comments and interpretations. This not only affects me but also creates an uncomfortable environment for other users who simply want to enjoy a friendly digital communication space. Furthermore, according to the great Ant_Eater, the emoji bears a striking resemblance to a popsicle. Last but not least, it has been remarked by the great jeff that “the otter looks like cardboard”.

Discord is home to over 140 million active users monthly (source: BusinessofApps, 2021), many of whom use emojis daily as part of their interactions. The otter emoji's design issue may seem insignificant, but it can contribute negatively to user experience on a large scale if left unaddressed.

I believe that by modifying this particular aspect of the otter emoji, we can preserve its charm while ensuring it remains respectful and appropriate for all users. Let's work together towards creating a more comfortable and inclusive environment on Discord.

Please sign this petition urging Discord developers to consider redesigning the tail of the otter emoji.
