Modify the Stinson Middle School dress code!

The Issue

Hello, my name is Jena and I am going into eighth grade at Stinson Middle School. There is an issue with the dress code at my school and all middle schools in our school district. For the most part, the dress code is reasonable. For example, a see-through top without an undershirt, or inappropriate words on clothing shouldn't be allowed.

However, there are some parts of the dress code that should be modified to fit trends and students should have some freedom to dress how they'd like to. As a feminine presenting person myself, I find it difficult to obtain clothes that aren't expensive, cropped, or simply unsightly. I want the freedom to wear clothes that look good on me without having to spend lots of money or wear t-shirts and jeans all the time. Because of this, a few friends and I have collaborated and suggest some modifications to the dress code. They are as follows:

Shorts for all genders are allowed, but they must be at least 6 inches above the kneecap.

Dresses and skirts are also allowed, but they must be at least 6 inches above the kneecap.

Yoga pants and leggings are allowed, but no "butt scrunch" leggings are permitted and they must be worn with a regular length t-shirt or longer.

Jeans with rips above the knee are allowed, but they must be no higher than 4 inches above the kneecap.

If a shirt is considered indecent, a jacket or another method of concealment can be used as a coverup until the wearer can change.

Sleeveless garments are allowed, but the straps must be at least one inch wide.

Pajama bottoms are allowed, but no full pajama sets or onesies.

Unnatural colors of hair may be allowed, but a student's full head may not be dyed.

Crop tops are allowed, but they must be below the ribcage.

Thank you for reading the modifications to the dress code. I hope that you will take these ideas into considerations and make the change!
