Modify Metro-North Train Schedule for University and Morris Heights Stops

The Issue

We, the undersigned, are members of the community, parents, healthcare workers, and daily commuters who rely on the Metro-North Railroad. We are writing to request an adjustment to the current train schedule to better serve the needs of those who travel to and from University Heights and Morris Heights.

Currently, the train schedule poses significant challenges for us:

 • The only train that stops at University Heights and Morris Heights during the crucial afternoon period departs at 3:38 PM, and the next available train doesn’t arrive until 4:40 PM.
 • There is a train that departs from Marble Hill at 4:05 PM, but it bypasses these important stops, forcing us to choose between arriving too early or much later than needed.

This schedule impacts not only parents picking up children from school but also hospital workers, healthcare professionals, and other community members whose daily routines and responsibilities are affected by the lack of timely train service.

Our Request:

We respectfully request that the 4:05 PM train departing from Marble Hill be adjusted to include stops at University Heights and Morris Heights. This change would greatly benefit the community by providing more convenient travel options and reducing the strain on families, workers, and commuters.

Why This Matters:

 • For Parents: The current schedule complicates school pick-up and drop-off routines, adding unnecessary stress to our day-to-day lives.
 • For Healthcare Workers and Other Professionals: Many of us work long hours, and the lack of a timely train option adds to the challenges of balancing work and personal life.
 • For the Community: Improving accessibility to these stops will enhance the overall quality of life for those who rely on public transportation.

We believe that with enough support, the MTA can reevaluate the need for this adjustment and provide a solution that better meets the needs of our community.

Please join us in signing this petition to make our voices heard. Together, we can advocate for a more convenient and equitable train schedule.
