Approve 3000cr rupees as relief fund for assam flood
The Issue
India Today writes that a deer was swept away in Assam Floods from Kaziranga. Business Today reported on 16th July 2019, 15 deaths and 43 lakh people affected with 90% of Kaziranga impacted by the Assam flood.
Now, imagine your loved one being swept away by a flood.
Assam floods occur every year resulting in devastating loss of life and hampering economical growth of the state. Brahmaputra and its tributaries are flooded each year. As an aftermath of the same Assam experiences a multitude of life threatening diseases. Water-borne diseases run rampant claiming lives even after the flood water has subsided.
Schools are either shut down or used to provide shelter for those affected by the flood. Children are kept away from schools, resulting in pushing the academic progress backwards.
Assam loses productive days in overcoming the resultant agricultural loss as well as substantial damage to dwellings. In a country where 70% of the economy is contributed by agriculture, farmers in Assam lose their season’s crops thereby setting the economy back by a huge margin. The loss of family members, friends, neighbours and domesticated animals aside, Assam has to divert much of its economy to provide relief in the form of food and medical supplies to the affected and compensate for the loss of infrastructure in the State.
Imagine losing every belonging you posses and then losing your dearest ones, and the imagine no one bothering about it.
There were times when we people from assam and assam govt has extended all the help we could afford to the effected people of different natural calamities.
A nation is as great as its people, they say. It’s time to prove it.
