Modernize Education: Let's Allow Calculators in Schools and CBSE Board Exams in India

The Issue

To Whom It May Concern

We, the undersigned, believe that the use of calculators should be allowed in schools and CBSE board exams in India. We believe that this change is necessary to keep up with the rest of the world and to provide Indian students with the best possible education.

Many countries around the world, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, allow the use of calculators in schools and exams. These countries have recognized the importance of technology in education and have adapted accordingly. In today's world, where technology is used in every aspect of life, it is essential that we teach students how to use it in a productive and effective way.

The use of calculators has numerous benefits. First and foremost, it saves time. Calculators can perform complex calculations in a matter of seconds, allowing students to focus on understanding the underlying concepts rather than spending time on manual calculations. Additionally, calculators help students to develop their problem-solving skills. By automating basic calculations, students can focus on higher-level thinking and problem-solving, which is essential in the modern world.

Some may argue that allowing the use of calculators will make students lazy and reliant on technology. However, we believe that this is a misguided notion. In fact, by using calculators, students will become more confident and comfortable with technology. They will learn how to use it in a responsible and productive way, which will benefit them in the long run. Also, I hope the CBSE Board of Directors understand that the first calculator was invented in the 18th Century, the first commercially produced Mechanical Calculator in the 19th, and right now, we are living in the 21st.

In conclusion, it is high time that we realize the importance of calculators in education and recognize the limitations of rote learning and memorization. Allowing the use of calculators in schools and CBSE board exams in India will not only save time but also help students to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It will also level the playing field for students who struggle with calculations and enable them to showcase their true potential. We urge the board of education to take a progressive approach towards education and embrace the use of technology in a responsible and effective manner. By doing so, we can prepare our students to face the challenges of the modern world and contribute to India's growth and development.

Sincerely,

A tired and frustrated student standing for many more like me.
