Canada’s Modern Slavery Act has allowed companies to use child labour. The Modern-Day Slavery Act that Canada has adopted actually does not require brands to reduce forced and child labour practices in their supply chains. Its act only requires them to report on their practices, not to have a mandate to take specific actions to prevent child labour in their supply chain. I am petitioning for the act to require companies to take more specific, mandated actions against child labour in their supply chains.
