“Modeline” is a retail store located at Valley Hills Mall in Hickory, NC who’s specialty is women’s clothing. It has been a staple location for many years. Although the clothing itself is highly appealing, the owner of the location has and continues to receive multiple complaints on the daily regarding the following: body shaming, racial profiling, verbal abuse, and overall poor customer service. Mall management has received multiple statements about this location and the police have been there on multiple occasions also. 

As a diverse community it puts a damper on the idea of being inclusive even in a shopping environment. Rude, nasty businesses can not only draw away customers from their stores, but the mall also if word gets out. Rather a location be empty to more promising tenants than to be open for business to just refuse service and go beyond the lines of verbal abuse.
