Who Am I?

I am a freshman at Rocky Hill High School and a Model UN enthusiast. I am seeking for your support to create a Model UN program at Rocky Hill High School for current and future students.

What is Model United Nations (MUN)?

Model UN is a mock trial of the United Nations General Assembly. Each student represents a country as a UN delegate. At the conference, all the UN delegates participate in caucuses and debate to pass resolutions on the world’s most pressing issues such as poverty, nuclear disarmament, world hunger, etc.

How Model UN can benefit students?

Model UN is a great program that helps students enhance many lifelong skills. At Model UN, students prepare and deliver speeches, which improves students' public speaking skills. Throughout the conference, delegates negotiate with other delegates on world issues thus improving negotiation skills. Students also learn the importance of collaboration. Collaboration and teamwork is a skill that is required no matter what field you work in. Finally, Model UN can enhance students' global awareness which is key to a successful career and life as the countries have become interdependent.

How Model UN can help the town?

Model UN is a platform that is offered to many students around the globe. Many towns such as Avon, South Windsor, Glastonbury, and Southington compete with us in sports and also participate in Model UN. Rocky Hill High School students also deserve the opportunity to participate in Model UN. . Model UN is organized by prestigious universities such as Yale, Harvard, etc. Participating at such universities provides Rocky Hill students with learning and networking opportunities that can help them pursue undergraduate studies. A generation is that aware of community and governance will immensely help our town. We, as a town, can produce a UN delegate or ambassador who serves our great nation on the global stage.
