Baldomero Toledo has been one of the most inconsistent referees MLS has ever seen. He’s ruined an incredible amount of games with his red card-happy pocket and nonsensical decisions on key moments in MLS matches.

I feel as though Toledo and PRO won’t do any more good for this league. Not after the Quakes vs Union match that took place September 25, 2019. It’s time for PRO to do the right thing for once and let him go.

He proved to every viewer that he is incompetent at reffing a professional soccer game. His time needs to end, and PRO needs to change their ways with how to control games and use VAR properly.

His reasoning behind the decision to reverse the penalty on Collin for taking Rios down was because the contact was “incidental”.

Where in the rulebook does it say an incidental contact deserves a reversal in a key call like a PK? Especially one so late in the game. If a player makes a sliding challenge and breaks the opposition player’s leg in the box without any contact with the ball, does that mean the call should be reversed due to the fact that the contact itself was “incidental”?? No.

It’s time for Baldomero Toledo to finish his career as a PRO referee. He needs to go, even if it’s to USL. He should no longer be able to ref an MLS game for the rest of his reffing career.
