Go Blue in May for NF

The Issue

Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder/spontaneous mutation  that causes tumors to grow anywhere inside or outside of the body where nerves are present. NF can lead to blindness, disfigurment, hearing loss, bone abnormalities, pain, cancer, and even death. There are 3 different types of NF: NF 1, NF 2, and Schwannomatosis. NF 1 affects 1:3000 births making NF more common then cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Huntington's Disease combined. Yet most people have never heard of NF. There is no cure to date and no treatments. Go blue during the month of May in support of the many people worldwide that suffer  from NF and help support the fight for a cure! By wearing blue ribbons, gloves, hats, pins, etc the MLB is showing individuals with NF that they are not alone in the fight. The MLB draws in millions of viewers each year and by going blue the MLB could have a great impact on NF funding and awareness.

I am starting this petition because I lost my mom to NF1 when she was 35 years old. I was born with NF1 and I know the struggles of living with NF.
