The intersection on HWY 49 and W Wortham right next to the Robinwood One Stop has been infamously known as a dangerous intersection. Within the past month, I have personally assisted with 3 wrecks that has happened at this intersection and there was one on July 17, 2020 that was fatal. Biloxi man, Zachary Andrews, was the victim to this fatal wreck. How many people are going to have to die in order to wave the red flag saying we need change and we need it now?

Signing this petition lets the County Supervisors and Mississippi Highway Department know this change means a lot to us and we can't have people dying left and right when there can be something done to make this intersection safer. On W Wortham, there is a daycare, Little People's. How much longer until a child that attends that daycare are a fatal victim to this dangerous intersection? It's not right.

Let's be the change in Harrison County. Let's save the potential lives at stake because of the danger this intersection emits. In the end, we KNOW this intersection has caused too many fatalities and we KNOW there is a possible solution. Why not be the voice and support that ignites the solution into play. 

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

There’s many options, getting rid of the yield on green and making it only turn when the light is green going westbound and add a no turn on red for southbound. A merge into right lane could be added southbound so people have room to move and turn. The left and straight lane blocks traffic view of the highway. Those are suggestions. I’m not a structural engineer nor do I work for the Mississippi HWY department so it wouldn’t be my responsibility to come up with the best viable solution because there are paid professionals that have the skill set and authority to make the best action plan possible. There are solutions available though and that would be for the state to decide whether it is one or not
