Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of businesses have closed down and hundreds of thousands of people have lost their jobs or their family members. Hospitals are full and there are no vaccines to vaccinate even the health care workers and with the shortage in supply of new vaccines there is no possibility of the general public getting vaccinated this year. Every day there are thousands of new COVID-19 plus other Variant Virus cases and 90 to 100 deaths. Also people suffering from other diseases are not able to get operated.
Most of the citizens are sitting at home due to lockdown and there are no sources of income. During this difficult period why your government is increasing the property tax and other fees by 3.2%. This is creating lots of stress on the people.
Last week Brampton Council has passed their 2021 budget with no tax increase. This is the third year in a row they have not increased their taxes whereas in Mississauga every year the taxes are going up. Peel Council has 24 seats. Mississauga has 12. Brampton and Caledon has 12. Therefore Peel's expenses should be shared equally. Why your government is increasing taxes in Mississauga and at the same time spending almost more than $90 Million every year to cover most of the expenses for Brampton and Caledon ? This money can be used here to avoid any tax increases or even reduce the taxes. This problem needs to be solved as soon as possible and there should not be any tax increase in 2021 for Mississauga's residents.
