Mission CISD has implemented a clear backpack mandate due to gun violence and school shootings. We understand that the district is responsible for the safety of their students in all grade levels but a clear backpack will not prevent a school shooting from occurring. Most if not all of the terroristic attacks on schools are committed by disturbed people with access to military grade arsenal, not handguns. Again most if not all terroristic attacks are committed with an AR in which the gunman simply enters the school and opens fire with no regard to any rules or regulations. Clearly an AR along with its ammunition is not able to fit inside of a backpack, nor will a clear backpack prevent a mentally deranged student or civilian from opening fire inside of a school.
