After the 2020 postseason, the NHL removed the Stanley Cup Playoffs logo below each blue line, a staple of the playoffs that had existed for years, to instead make room for more digital advertising on the ice. With the advancements in technology including, but not limited to, virtual board ads, other blank spots on the ice to advertise, and spots on the glass to advertise, we request the Stanley Cup Playoffs logo return to its embedded form under the ice. Currently, the NHL is the only major sport league in North America that does not display any type of playoff logo on its playing surface. This logo is meant to be there, visible to everyone in the arena as a way to show their teams success through the regular season; a way to show they are good enough to compete for the Stanley Cup. Prior to 2020, fans would enter the arena and see that logo proudly displayed on the ice. They knew it was time to get excited, increase their passion to the next level, but now, it can feel like any other regular season game.

The NHL has pursued every path to increase advertisements in the arena and during broadcasts, but stripping the ice of the playoff logo was a step too far. Fans have voiced their displeasure for this decision, but the NHL has remained silent so far.
