Misconduct within D47 we need change

The Issue

We are writing from deep sorrow and concern about the Nurse at IP and questionable acts of misconduct, which violate the values and principles of quality pediatric healthcare. She has consistently shown a lack of empathy and respect for children under her care, causing them to feel fear when seeking medical support at school. Instead of providing aid and comfort, she has refused to administer an epi pen to a child with a severe allergy and distributed medicine to at least two children without parental consent or requisite medical note.

Furthermore, she has disregarded educational safety by allowing kids to participate in gym activities without medical clearance, a potentially dangerous decision for children with underlying health conditions. As parents and guardians, we also condemn her refusal to engage in open communication and inform us of health-related incidents concerning our children.

Unfortunately, these occurrences are not just isolated events. They have become a pattern of behavior that has caused distress among our children and our community. It is crucial to ensure that the person in charge of our children's health is caring, professional, and adherent to ethical guidelines.

According to the Pediatric Nursing Code of Ethics, nurses should prioritize the health and wellbeing of their patients, act with honesty and integrity, and advocate for their patients [1]. Likewise, the Nurse Practice Act dictates that any nurse administering medication needs an authorized prescriber's order, validating our concerns about her actions [2].

As a community invested in our children's welfare, we raise our voices in union to seek Nurse Judith Moretti’s termination from her position for these gross violations of trust and professionalism. We beseech those with the power to influence this decision to stand up for our children’s rights to a safe, supportive, and professional school healthcare environment. Please sign this petition to demand accountability and change.
