HELP TO STOP THE ENBRIDGE PIPELINE FROM DESTROYING OUR WATERS AND OUR SACRED WILD RICE!!
The Issue
The Twin Ports is home to #Enbridge, a pipeline corporation that pumps the dirtiest fuel on the planet through our communities, our land, and our waterways. Enbridge is responsible for spilling over 1 million gallons of tar sands oil into the #KalamazooRiver--the largest inland US #tarsands spill in history.
On November 2nd, organizers in the Twin Ports of #Duluth and #Superior have joined by concerned citizens from across the region to stand up against the reckless expansion of Enbridge crude oil pipelines across the #GreatLakes which threatens our climate, water, and communities. Led by local indigenous leaders, this action will raise the public profile of Enbridge resistance efforts in the Twin Ports and call on the company to do full consultation with tribes impacted by their proposed pipeline expansion plans, conduct full environmental review, and invest fully in a just transition to clean energy instead of building more fossil fuel infrastructure.
Well we have done our part. We have done this meeting and march to the Enbridge office on Nov. 2nd but our demands were not heard. We the community of Twin ports walked into the Duluth office with our letter and our questions and were denied access to anyone that would be willing to talk with us. They did not take our letter and would not listen to the citizens that live and work day to day in the areas they are proposing this pipeline. Instead we were met with officers that arrested 7 of our peaceful protesters.
Water is life. It is the most crucial element in sustaining our survival on mother earth. Our sacred lands, our sacred water, our sacred wild rice, our food sources are at risk. And we are in serious danger of having that very substance taken from us.
I ask that the people of our community and surrounding areas to please join our fight for survival. Join our fight into saving the little we have left. Please sign this petition in an effort to stop Enbridge and their dirty oil from building their pipeline and ruining our sacred waters and our lands. This is for our children and our children's children
