This petition is in follow-up to a petition I started in 2014 that has since closed due to length of time. This new petition is specifically directed to the Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Corrections. 

The question is simple. How many times is a convicted murderer allowed to be released from prison on intensive supervised release after violating parole?

According to news reports and a notification sent to the victims family; Brian Patrick Merkt is once again in custody for violating parole for the 3rd time since his release from prison after serving time for the 2nd degree murder conviction of MacKenzie Bussiere , a 3 year old child. Please take a moment and sign this petition. The previous petition with signatures was hand-delivered to the MN DOC Commissioner and I intend to do that again with this petition. Someone has to listen to common sense here. Someone has the power to stop this man from leaving prison again and offending AGAIN. Someone needs to give this family some closure.
