Many people enjoy the booming sounds and flashing lights of fireworks, but they can be terrifying and overwhelming for animals and possibly hazardous. During the holiday season, many animals become so frightened by the noise and commotion of fireworks and firecrackers that they run from otherwise familiar environments and people, and sadly become lost, injured or worse. This is also a hazard for humans as a frightened and confused animal may run on highway traffic which can lead to serious/ fatal accidents.  

The Rosewood Foundation Guyana is pleading with everyone to be considerate towards animals, their sensory abilities are much more heightened than ours, thus the noise generated from fireworks and firecrackers is much more detrimental to them. 
Animals have a very keen sense of hearing, and the noise generated from the use of explosives causes symptoms like anxiety, confusion, salivating, excessive barking, loss of appetite, aggressiveness etc. Dogs, cats, birds and wildlife are all affected by this. Sadly in some cases the trauma also results in death. 

The holidays are a time for kindness and love. Let's all be a bit more considerate to animals. Join us as we advocate for our voiceless friends. They are sentient beings and deserve to be respected and to be able to coexist with humans in a society free from both physical and psychological harm.
