Prevent Jamie Reynolds from appealing his full-life sentence for the murder of 17-year-old, Georgia Williams

Prevent Jamie Reynolds from appealing his full-life sentence for the murder of 17-year-old, Georgia Williams

The Issue

It came to light on the 14/04/2014, that after only four months in prison, Jamie Reynolds lodged an appeal against his full life term.

The crime which occurred on May 26th 2013 was uniquely sadistic in nature, praying on a young girl's trust in someone who she believed to be her friend, in a scripted attack, which evidence shows he planned to execute against a girl for up to five years.

He hanged Georgia in his home and watched her die in circumstances where he could've saved her. He has shown not an ounce of remorse since. Mr Justice Wilkie at Stafford Crown Court in December agreed with a psychiatric report that he “had the potential to become a serial killer.” Reynolds was already known to police for similar attacks on other girls, including an incident where he attempted to strangle a teenage girl in his parents' house in 2008. He had also contacted other girls about the 'photoshoot', in case “Top of the list Georgia” had not turned up, proving he is a danger to other girls and young women.

In taking Georgia's life, Reynolds not only denied her a future, but he irreparably ruined the lives of her family and friends, effectively destroying an entire town.

His appeal will mean Georgia's parents have to go back to court and see the evil who took their daughter away in the most horrific circumstances. This sentence was passed down after careful consideration from the judge, based on the nature of the crime and the concrete evidence against Reynolds. By allowing this individual to appeal, it is devaluing Georgia's life, and proves again the lack of remorse he feels for his actions. We do not believe that Georgia's family, who have had their world torn apart, should be put through this appeal after less than a year since the death of their daughter.
