To Stop the wastage of seats in IITs.

Admissions into IITs for the M.Tech are done on the basis of GATE score. All IITs admit students directly or on interviews basis.

All high scorers in GATE opt IITs for All IITs conduct counselling in June-July month and session started in last week of july.

Almost all PSUs also recruit through GATE Score. Firstly PSUs call for interview and all higher gate scorers who are currently in the IITs pursuing fill the form of PSUs and they get the call for interview.

All PSUs declare the final result of selection in OCT-NOV, and almost higher gate scorers who are in IITs, they get the call letter and now they leave the IITs for their job. The seat is now empty and IITs do not fill seats in mid course.

A lot of time, money and energy are invested in the MTech programme. IITs are premier institutes, and there is a long waitlist for getting into them. If students leave midway, the seats go empty.

In 2016, 2000 out of 8000 students left IITs for their job(this data is published by IITs and given to MHRD).

at IIT-B, as many as 40%-45% students from the department leave the MTech course midway (According to a professor from the electrical engineering department).

This year, BSNL is also recruiting through GATE SCORE 2017 and total vacancies are 2510 for ECE/EE/EI/CS.

This year, there will be huge loss of seats in IITs and NITs also in ECE/EE/EI/CS branch.

If all PSUs can conduct the recruitment process before IITs counselling, it will be better thus lesser/good GATE scorers or interested students will get a chance to get into IITs and no wastage of seats. Only HRD ministry can stop this wastage.

I appeal to all the GATE aspirants to sign this petition to request MHRD and PMO to take action in this issue and so that there will be no wastage of seats.

I requested to all Gate aspirants plz go to twitter and tweet.....
